As the Season Winds Down

With just this week to go, it looks like the Hierarchs have the Western Conference clinched. So I want to offer my congratulations on your win.

The Western Conference definitely was the more difficult one.

Still, I am proud of how my guys played. At this point they have the highest score. That tells me they gave it their best effort & the vagaries of a specific match-up. I couldn’t have asked any more from them (except maybe from Bishop Morlino when it comes to the Sinsinawa Dominicans & excommunicating a few of them).

I recently found out who 1 of  my biggest fans is. I received a fan letter from him earlier this week with the following picture enclosed.

IMG_20130731_221752

It was postmarked from Vatican City & written a couple weeks ago. His cat is also a fan. The picture was taken after he added his paw print & was cleaning the soy based ink off of it. Papa emeritus Benedetto did drop a few hints about where Papa Francesco’s loyalties lie. He said that he knew I would understand why Papa Francesco had to publicly remain neutral.

Of course he ended the letter with a papal emeritus blessing followed by his signature. It went:

Benedictus etc.

Benedictus

Back-to-Back Western Conference Champs

So it looks like the week 13 standings when they come out will have the Rocky Mountain Hierarchs at 8-3-1* and the Dubuque Fighting Saints at 7-4-1. Congrats to the Fighting Saints on a great season to complement their rapidly growing fan base throughout the Midwest and the railroad industry.

*Unless Bp. Coyne loses his Twitter access for the week, in which case 9-2-1 is a possibility.

Special Surprise for Larry

I know that Fighting Saints fever is becoming an international phenomenon. & that many of the railroads have hopped on board. Well, it turns out that I am not the only team with fans working for the railroads.

While Canadian National (CN) is clearly on board for the fighting saints, some of their employees in the Detroit area are fans of LarryD & his Crusading Croziers. It turns out that they asked for & were given permission to put the Croziers logo on at least 1 of their locomotives. I am perfectly fine with what they asked. Let the Croziers have their 15 minutes of fame.

To my pleasant surprize, the other day when I was taking some pictures in the Chicago Central yards (subsidiary of CN) I came across that locomotive. It is from another of their subsidiaries, the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern (EJE).

So for Larry here is a picture of EJE locomotive 666 with the Croziers logo on it.

Dubuque Fighting Saints Week 12 (v Acolytes)

This week I played Archbishop Jackels & Bishops Nickless & Morlino. Bishop Malloy had the week off.

Next week Bishop Morlino will have the week off.

Things were a little slow because of World Youth Day.  Not wanting to distract from what was going on down there & what Papa Francesco was doing my team kept it low key.

Total points – 9

Archbishop Jackels – 5 points

24 July, Interview, Voices of the Tri-States – 3 points

2 Facebook posts – 2 points

Bishop Nickless – 4 points

Review Board – 3 points

1 Facebook post 1 point

Bishop Morlino – 0 points

Things were pretty uneventful this week.

As I promised last week, if I found evidence that BNSF & Canadian Pacific which run through Dubuque were jumping on the Fighting Saints bandwagon I would share it. Well when I was out getting some new pictures for my Trains album on Facebook I got the confirmation I needed.

The other day when I taking some pictures in the Chicago Central (CN) yards a BNSF coal train pulled in. Here is a picture of 1 of the locomotives.

This picture was taken later that same day in the BNSF yards in E Dubuque, IL.

The other railroad that has a presence in DBQ in a subsidiary of a subsidiary of a subsidiary of Canadian Pacific (CP, the Iowa, Chicago & Eastern (ICE). ICE is a subsidiary of Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern (DME). DME is a subsidiary of the Soo Line. Here is a picture of 1 of their locomotives in the ICE yards.

Here is a picture of a CP locomotive recently taken in the CN yards where it was picking up some cars.

The latest rumor is that other Railroads are also on board has been confirmed & I will share those pictures next week. All I will say is Fighting Saints fever has gone spread across the USA & Canada & even into Mexico.
